How to Update a Customer

When to use this guide

Use this guide when you need to change a customer's contact information, update notes, adjust preferences, or add important tags.

Prerequisites

  • Customer must already exist.
  • You must have permission to edit customers.

Step-by-step

Step 1 — Open Customer Profile

  1. Go to Customers.
  2. Search or scroll to find the customer.
  3. Click the customer’s name to open the profile.

Step 2 — Update Contact Details

You can edit:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Address
  • Preferred communication method
  • Billing preferences

Step 3 — Update Notes

Use notes for:

  • Gate codes
  • Parking instructions
  • Pet notes
  • Preferences (e.g., “always mornings”)
  • Sensitive reminders

Step 4 — Add or Edit Tags

Tags improve organization and assignment. Examples:

  • VIP
  • Property Manager
  • New Client
  • AirBnb Host
  • Monthly Client

Step 5 — Save Changes

Click Save Customer.


Common mistakes

❌ “Changes not saving”

  • Some required fields may be empty.
  • The browser may auto-fill invalid data.

❌ “Email duplicated”

  • Another customer may already use the same email.
